I Spent A Weekend at a Getaway Cabin & Here’s How It Went

I Spent A Weekend at a Getaway Cabin & Here’s How It Went

Hey you!

It’s been a minute! How are you?

I’ve missed this community so much. I have a few posts saved in my drafts that I intended to publish in 2020 but just could. not. complete. The truth is, my mind was everywhere BUT blogging in 2020.

I think I spent the year so embedded in my job, writing online content, that the last thing that I wanted to do with the remainder of my time was write. I was spent. I didn’t want to type or read another word on an LED lit screen.

That’s one of the reasons why I thought to escape from the world and relax for a weekend via the Getaway!

If you want to get a peek into what the 2 night, 3 day Getaway Cabin life was like, keep reading!

What is the Getaway?

The Getaway, aka “The Getaway Cabins” or “The Getaway House” as some like to call it, is at its core, a cabin in the woods.

Learning to Choose to Nurture Over My Nature

Learning to Choose to Nurture Over My Nature

Recently, I experienced an exchange with my manager that kind of spoke to me. I needed her insight on how I should respond to a certain situation. I knew in my mind that I could attempt to resolve the situation on my own but I wanted to take an extra step by getting her input first. My manager always encourages me to ask questions and elicit her input anytime so this was one of the few times I wanted to take her up on her offer. Pros and Cons of Working from Home as a Writer

Pros and Cons of Working from Home as a Writer

For those of you who don’t know, I work as a technical writer for a pretty large tech company. Because this company has a campus that is so far from where I live, I get to work from home throughout the week.

There are times where I might come into the office for a face-to-face meet but for the most part, I enjoy the luxury of cracking my laptop open and clocking hours without ever having to leave my home. Sounds pretty cool, huh?

I’m not gonna lie, I absolutely LOVE the luxuries that come with working from home! I wouldn’t trade it for any other job… except maybe a job that requires me to travel internationally… maybe.

Like anything, it has its upsides and downsides. If you’re curious about working from home and all that it entails, I’ve put together a list of pros and cons that I very personally relate to. Could working from home be ideal for you after all? Let’s start with the pros! Continue reading “Pros and Cons of Working from Home as a Writer”

The Easiest Way to Trivialize Wisdom

The Easiest Way to Trivialize Wisdom

As I am sure many of you have heard by now, on January 2nd, Logan Paul (a popular YouTuber for those who may not recognize the name) received widespread backlash about a video he posted in which he filmed a corpse hanging from a noose while exploring Japan’s Aokigahara. The Aokigahara is referred to as the “Sea of Trees” and it’s more popularized nickname, Suicide Forest, since it is the second most popular place in the world for one to commit suicide inContinue reading “The Easiest Way to Trivialize Wisdom”

The Real Reason Why Vision Boards Work (& How to Make Your Own)

The Real Reason Why Vision Boards Work (& How to Make Your Own)

Most people advocate vision boards because of something called the “Law of attraction”. I personally am not a big fan of this law for two reasons: The first being that God’s will is inevitable even in spite of my own (1 Thessalonians 5:18 & Jeremiah 29:11). The second reason is that all good things come from God (James 1:17). I personally cannot accredit the universe for all the great things Jesus does and is doing not just in my life but in the lives of others!

WITH THAT BEING SAID…

How to: Start Listing Your New Year Resolutions

How to: Start Listing Your New Year Resolutions

I don’t know about you, but I’m in a little bit of disbelief that 2018 is merely 8 weeks away. They say time flies when you’re having fun but the fact that the end of the year is practically here has me feeling like I’ve overslept one too many days since January.

Obviously, we still have two major holidays to prepare for. I am the last person to add any major to-do’s to my list during the holiday season, so believe me when I say I am not advocating anything elaborate or ultra time-consuming. However, waiting until the very last week of 2017 to decide what you want to get out of an ENTIRE YEAR doesn’t seem to leave a lot of room for contemplation.   Continue reading “How to: Start Listing Your New Year Resolutions”

What I Wish I Knew Before Adopting a Plant-Based Diet

What I Wish I Knew Before Adopting a Plant-Based Diet

When I decided to go plant-based, I planned on quitting meat products cold turkey. I am typically really good about maintaining self-control so even if I miss a certain meal, I can refuse to partake and be just fine if it’s what I’ve made up my mind to do. When I actually went plant-based however, there were a few key things I feel that I would have handled differently had I known about them prior to making the switch.

That brings me to this post! If you are planning on eating a plant-based diet or even just thinking about it, this is my little letter to you! It may be able to better prepare you for what is to come and make your transition just a tad bit smoother. Continue reading “What I Wish I Knew Before Adopting a Plant-Based Diet”

Learning to Be Alone

Learning to Be Alone

Often times life throws us curve balls. We can be skipping along one path holding the hand of a dearly loved friend or group of friends and all of a sudden find that we are at a fork in the road. To make matters worse, the road directly ahead of you is only wide enough for one person to walk on… which means that you have to walk alone. Continue reading “Learning to Be Alone”

How I Organize My Life With A Bullet Journal

How I Organize My Life With A Bullet Journal

I started bullet journaling when I desperately needed a planner, but didn’t have 50+ bucks to spend on an elaborate planner. Bullet journaling is a very affordable, creative planning system option since whatever journal you own can be transformed into one!

Before I started, I think one of the biggest concerns I had about bullet journaling was the time it takes to make one and keep it up. After all, a bullet journal is a completely customizable planner. Creating every page in a bujo (bu -bullet- + jo -journal-) could take a lot of time depending on one’s needs in a planner. Also, pictures like these popped up every time I searched “bullet journal” on google and they definitely intimidated me: Continue reading “How I Organize My Life With A Bullet Journal”
